Is real sunlight the only light spectrum that can be emulated by the PLASMA SUN?
No! When creating light with the plasma technology there are nearly no limits at all. We control the light spectrum output by the composition of the elements which are filled into the bulb. You just have to tell us what kind of light you’re searching for and we find the right plasma bulb that delivers the spectrum you desire.
What is a plasma?
Plasma is the fourth state of matter. „In our daily lives, the three states we predominantly interact with are solid, liquid, and gas, but there exists another state: plasma. When forming a plasma, all elements have different lighting characteristics. For example, they differ in brightness and stability. For our PLASMA SUN we take those elements that have the highest light output, the highest lumen per watt ratio or simple the ones that create a special spectrum you’re searching for.
How long is the warranty period of the PLASMA SUN?
The warranty period is 1 year. But we love staying in contact even after the warranty period is ended. We’re always happy to help if you have any questions.
What’s the weight of a PLASMA SUN?
7.5 kg. Together with packaging material its 10 kg.
Is the reflector changeable?
Yes, and its very easy. But if you plan to change the reflector please let us know in your order. The reason is that for mounting the parabolic reflector there are 4 more screw holes needed and some extra material. Of course, we will tell you in detail how to change but knowing beforehand is much easier.
Are there any components that have to be changed over time?
The magnetron has a lifetime of approximately 20,000 hours of operation. After that it should be changed. For spare parts please contact us. We will supply you with the same model that is used in the PLASMA SUN to ensure the functionality and finetuning of the whole system.
Does the PLASMA SUN have to be serviced regularly?
Not really. When being in operation everyday for 18 hours or more you should clean the bulb with a cloth soaked in alcohol once a year.
Can I connect the PLASMA SUN with my own light management software?
Yes, but please tell us that you plan to do so. In this case we deliver the light with an ethernet connector. When you prefer to have both options (control via potentiometer and ethernet connector) this is possible too. We also can provide you with a light management software.
Do I have to take care of something when operating the PLASMA SUN?
Yes, please make sure that air inlet and air outlet are free at any time.
What is the desired voltage?
You can operate the PLASMA SUN on 180-260 Volt / 50-60 Hz singleface or twoface with 2 times 120 Volt / 50-60 Hz plus protecting ground. The PLASMA SUN utilizes power factor correction. It also works well with DC input.
Is the PLASMA SUN dimmable?
The system is dimmable in the range from 30% – 100% in one percent steps. In the range from 50% – 100% it does not change its spectrum.
Is there any limit in the orientation of the light?
No. You can operate the PLASMA SUN in any orientation you like.
